Focus.  You can’t be everything to everyone, and that’s OK.

Be your own CMO.  No one knows your differentiation better than you do.  Step up and own it.

Recognize the power of connections – 96% of board seats are filled by referral.

Carefully choose whose advice to follow – Everyone has an opinion; forge your own path.

Build a support system.  Identify sponsors, champions, mentors, cheerleaders.

Be patient.  It takes time!
